Department of Gastroenterology

Overview

The Department of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy was established in January 2021 to support the in-depth development and meet the demand for endoscopic examination and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases for patients in Hai Phong in particular and the Northeast coastal region in general, delivering optimal treatment outcomes, eliminating the risk of complications, and shortening treatment time for patients. The Department brings together leading experts in gastroenterology and endoscopy from major hospitals such as Bach Mai Hospital, Hanoi Medical University, Vinmec Hospital, and Viet Tiep Hospital. The Department comprises 15 physicians and 30 nurses, many of whom have years of experience in gastroenterology. The nursing team is professionally trained, responsible, dedicated, and devoted to patients. Located on the 4th floor of Hai Phong International General Hospital with an area of nearly 3000 m2 divided into two zones: an inpatient treatment zone of 2000 m2 with more than 50 beds for treating digestive tract – hepatobiliary – pancreatic diseases, and a 700 m2 endoscopy zone. The Department is comprehensively equipped with the most advanced modern machinery today, including 7 narrow-band imaging (NBI) magnification endoscopy systems CV 170, CV 190 OLYMPUS – Japan with many magnification and chromoendoscopy functions for diagnosing and screening early-stage gastrointestinal cancers… The GF-UCT 180 endoscopic ultrasound system is integrated with the CV190 endoscopy system, a 4D color ultrasound machine, a side-viewing endoscopy system for ERCP, and a radiofrequency ablation device for liver cancer treatment… supported by other modern equipment such as 128-slice CT, 3.0 Tesla MRI, and angiography systems…. The endoscopy zone is separately designed, strictly complying with disinfection – sterilization procedures to prevent the spread of pathogens through endoscopic instruments to patients and medical staff.
