Department of General Internal Medicine
Department of Internal Medicine of Hai Phong International General Hospital
Located on floors 14, 15, and 16 of the hospital’s 23-story building. For many years, the Hospital has sent doctors for training at Viet Duc Hospital and Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi. In addition, the Hospital places great emphasis on cooperation with major hospitals in Hanoi, such as: Bach Mai Hospital, Viet Duc Hospital, and the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology; as well as close cooperation with hospitals in Hai Phong city, such as: Viet Tiep Hospital, Hai Phong Children’s Hospital, and Hai Phong Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital. Thanks to this strong cooperation, for the past 4 years, Professors, PhDs, and leading experts in Internal Medicine from Bach Mai Hospital, the National Hospital of Endocrinology, and Military Central Hospital 108 have regularly come to examine and treat patients in Hai Phong city on Saturdays and Sundays, and currently, many leading experts from Hanoi have permanently relocated to work at Hai Phong International General Hospital.
The Hospital simultaneously provides most of the sub-specialties within Internal Medicine, such as:
- Cardiology
- Gastroenterology
- Respiratory Medicine
- Endocrinology
- Nephrology – Urology
- Musculoskeletal
- Neurology
- Infectious Diseases
Within the Department of Internal Medicine, patients are further divided into smaller units, so that each patient is assigned to the specialty relevant to their condition. With this model, the Hospital’s organizational structure remains streamlined, while also ensuring that patients are always cared for by leading experts with high professional qualifications.
Clinical Consultation Models Implemented at the Hospital
In order to improve treatment quality for patients, Hai Phong International General Hospital implements the following consultation models:
- In-hospital consultation model: every patient admitted for treatment at Hai Phong International General Hospital is reviewed by all doctors of the Department of Internal Medicine on the very first day of admission, who then provide their opinions on diagnosis and treatment. During the course of treatment, if a difficult case arises, the hospital will further organize an inter-departmental consultation (between the Department of Internal Medicine, the Diagnostic Imaging Department, the Surgery Department, or other departments). Through this process, new approaches can be identified, ensuring that diagnosis and treatment always achieve optimal results for patients.
- Online consultation model: when a difficult case arises, or when the patient or their family requests it, Hai Phong International General Hospital will arrange an online consultation with leading experts in Hanoi. To prepare for this form of consultation, the hospital, since its construction, has proactively set aside a dedicated online consultation room equipped with modern equipment. In addition, the Hospital has installed smart image capture and transmission software, allowing experts in Hanoi to easily obtain complete, high-quality images of the patient, sufficient for consultation purposes.
- Direct examination model by leading Hanoi experts: the Hospital also simultaneously provides examination and ward-round services conducted by leading experts from Bach Mai Hospital, the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Viet Duc Hospital. This consultation model is carried out on a regular basis, in order to improve the quality of diagnosis and treatment for patients.
