Overview
Located on the 7th floor of Hai Phong International General Hospital, the Department of Orthopedic Surgery provides consultation, treatment, orthopedic surgery, reconstructive surgery, and microsurgery for injuries and conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system and ligaments caused by aging, trauma, traffic accidents, daily-life accidents, and sports injuries.
The department is staffed by orthopedic surgeons and multidisciplinary nursing professionals. It also receives professional support from leading specialists at national referral hospitals, including Viet Duc University Hospital and Bach Mai Hospital, who directly participate in performing surgical procedures at the hospital.
In addition, the department’s physicians are regularly sent to leading hospitals throughout Vietnam for advanced training to enhance their professional knowledge and clinical expertise. By focusing on clinical excellence, providing timely treatment, and applying advanced techniques, the Department of Orthopedic Surgery helps patients return to an active, pain-free life while supporting them throughout their recovery journey.
Techniques
The department currently offers the following surgical procedures and advanced techniques:
- Emergency trauma surgery: Treatment of closed and open fractures, soft tissue injuries, tendon repair, nerve repair, traumatic brain injury surgery, hematoma evacuation, and dural repair.
- Arthroscopic surgery: Ligament reconstruction, foreign body removal, arthroscopic treatment of osteoarthritis, hip and knee replacement, bone grafting, and limb reconstruction surgery.
- Fracture fixation surgery: Plate and screw fixation, cancellous screws, intramedullary nailing, locking plates, and other internal fixation techniques.
- Joint replacement surgery: Hip, knee, and shoulder replacement.
- Microsurgery and reconstructive surgery: Free flap transfer and local flap reconstruction.
- Corrective orthopedic surgery: Treatment of congenital deformities and post-traumatic or post-fracture deformities.
- Spine surgery: Treatment of spinal trauma, herniated discs, spondylolisthesis, spinal stenosis, and spinal cord tumors.
- Vertebroplasty: Bone cement injection for vertebral body augmentation.
