Established in January 2021, the Department of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy was created to meet the growing demand for specialized gastrointestinal diagnosis, endoscopy, and treatment services in Hai Phong and the Northeastern Coastal Region. We focus on comprehensive, patient-centered care with an emphasis on early detection, effective treatment, and long-term disease management. Our goal is to achieve the best possible treatment outcomes, minimize complications, and shorten patients’ recovery time.
Our Team
The department brings together a highly experienced team of gastroenterologists and endoscopy specialists from leading hospitals, including Bach Mai Hospital, Vinmec Healthcare System, and Viet Tiep Hospital. Many of our physicians have dedicated years to the field of gastroenterology and possess extensive clinical expertise.
Our nursing staff are professionally trained, highly responsible, and compassionate, providing attentive care while always placing patients’ well-being at the center of everything they do.
Facilities
Located on the 4th floor of Hai Phong International General Hospital, the Department of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy occupies nearly 3,000 m² and is divided into two dedicated areas:
- An Inpatient Unit spanning approximately 2,000 m², with more than 50 beds for the treatment of gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, and pancreatic diseases.
- An Endoscopy Unit covering approximately 700 m², equipped to provide comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic services.
The department is fully equipped with advanced, state-of-the-art medical technology and is supported by the hospital’s cutting-edge diagnostic systems, including a 320-slice CT scanner, a 3.0 Tesla MRI system, and an angiography system.
These facilities ensure the department has the capability to accurately diagnose and effectively treat a wide range of complex gastrointestinal disorders.
Services
The Department of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy at Hai Phong International General Hospital provides consultation, diagnosis, and treatment for a comprehensive range of digestive disorders, including:
- Esophageal disorders: Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), eosinophilic esophagitis, infectious esophagitis, immunodeficiency-related esophageal diseases, and other esophageal conditions.
- Stomach disorders: Gastric emptying disorders, functional dyspepsia, Zollinger–Ellison syndrome, gastritis, gastric and duodenal ulcers, and related conditions.
- Intestinal disorders: Intestinal motility disorders, infectious and viral diarrhea, malabsorption syndromes, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), colonic diverticular disease, colorectal polyps, and other intestinal diseases.
- Anorectal disorders: Hemorrhoids, anal fistulas, anal fissures, anorectal abscesses, solitary rectal ulcer syndrome, and related conditions.
- Pancreatic disorders: Pancreatitis, pancreatic cysts, and other pancreatic diseases.
- Hepatobiliary disorders: Gallstones, primary sclerosing cholangitis, liver and bile duct cysts, sphincter of Oddi dysfunction, hepatitis B and C, autoimmune hepatitis, metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (fatty liver disease), alcohol-related liver disease, cirrhosis, primary biliary cholangitis, and metabolic liver disorders.
- Other conditions: Parasitic infections, liver fluke infection, and liver cancer treatment using radiofrequency ablation (RFA), transarterial embolization, chemotherapy, and other advanced therapies.
